A child “attached” to a bike, think Gumby, screaming for their safe adult,
Will not be easy prey for a child predator!

A little girl in Sacramento CA, many years ago was able to save herself, being “one with her bike, ” now it is one more lesson I teach. A bike can save your life.  However if it is a bike they are seeking we need our children to know how to quickly  give it up and get to a safe place.

Scenario One -Someone is trying to take your child’s bike.

In this case your child jumps off the bike opposite the thief! Pushing the bike away, as a barrier, and yelling, “Take it”” and running towards their safe place, to a trusted adult to tell.  Make sure to  call the authorities, and give a good description.  Learning to describe will be a lesson your child  will use all their life long.

Scenario Two- Someone tries to grab a child from their bike.

If they cannot ride away, they can wrap their arms around the handle bars, and their legs around the frame, causing them to fall, screaming to alert home, and neighbors, the child connects themselves, like Gumby, thwarting  the advances of the predator.
